1951年福岡県大牟田市生まれ。1977東京芸術大学美術学部芸術学科卒業。
大学卒業後、福岡を拠点に、さまざまな音楽体験をベースに、幾何学形体を組み合わせた作品を制作している。モダニズムの文脈を基本にした、ミニマルな構成原理、単純な形体の反復、そして、カラフルで明快な色彩を特徴とする、版画、ドローイング、レリーフや立体作品、巨大なインスタレーション作品を国内外で発表している。1991年第５回 バングラディシュ・アジア美術ビエンナーレで最高賞、1995年第５回ガスコーニュ・ジャパニーズ・アート・スカラシップ、1997年第7回福岡県文化賞を受賞している。また、アジャン美術館（フランス）、ダイムラークライスラーコンテンポラリー（ドイツ）、韓国国立現代美術館（韓国）、スパイラル・ガーデン（東京）、福岡市美術館、福岡県立美術館、北九州市立美術館、埼玉県立近代美術館、富山県立近代美術館、セゾン現代美術館（長野県）、愛媛県立美術館等、国内外の美術館やギャラリー、で個展、企画展に出品している。また、ファ－レ立川（立川市）、キャナルシティ博多 グランドハイアット福岡（福岡市）、八王子ニュータウン中学校（東京都八王子市）、渋谷マーク・シティ（渋谷／東京）、マルイグループ新ユニオンセンター（東京都）、博多リバレイン フェスタ・スクウェア（福岡市）等、各地でコミッションワークも多く制作している。

Keita Egami
Egami was born in 1951 in Omuta, Fukuoka and graduated from the Department of Aesthetics and Art History of the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Tokyo University of the Arts in 1977. Egami’s work is characterized by repetition of simple form based on the golden rule as well as colorful composition and has been exhibited domestically and internationally, and his public sculpture is displayed permanently at Echigo-Tsumari Art Field. He received an Honorable Mention Prize at the 5th Asian Art Biennale Bangladesh (1991), the 5th Gascogne Japanese Art Scholarship (1995), and the 7th Fukuoka Prefecture Culture Award (1997). His works are collected in museums including the Kitakyushu Municipal Museum of Art, the Toyama Prefectural Museum of Art and Design, the Fukuoka Prefectural Museum of Art, the Fukuoka Art Museum, and the Sezon Museum of Modern Art.
