HOTEL ASIA (Gen Sasaki + Keiihi Miycagawa)

宮川敬一 Artist, Director of AIK and GALLERY SOAP / Kitakyushu, Japan
宮川は1997年より北九州のアーティストランスペース GALLERY SOAPのディレクターとして、数多くの展覧会や音楽イベント、上映会、シンポジウム等を企画している。また、オンラインプロジェクト、キャンディファクトリープロジェクトの古郷卓司、東京藝術大学教授の毛利嘉孝等と共同で2007年から2016まで北九州ビエンナーレを主催。2011年からはアーティストの佐々木玄、中国のキュレーター ニークンとアジア地域のアーティストや研究者等と共同で企画される中国、台湾、タイ、インドネシア、日本を巡回するアートプロジェクト HOTEL ASIA PROJECTを企画している。GALLERY SOAPで企画した主なアーティストは: Dan Graham (USA), Peter Halley (USA), Philip Horst (Germany), Federico Baronello (Italy), Jesper Alvaer (Norway), candy factory (Japan)、藤浩志 (Japan)、江上計太、大友良英、足立正夫、森山安英など多数。
また、宮川はアーティストユニット、SECOND PLANETのメンバーでもあり、彼の作品は、東京藝術大学、あいちトリエンナーレ、LP Art Space (中国）、バンコク大学ギャラリー（タイ）、アジア アートアーカイブ （香港）、北九州ビエンナーレ、テグフォトビエンナーレ（韓国）ZK/Uベルリン（ドイツ）、オルガンハウス（中国）などで発表されている。


Keiichi Miyagawa
Artist, Director of AIK and GALLERY SOAP / Kitakyushu, Japan

Miyagawa has been running an artist-run-space called GALLERY SOAP since 1997 in Kitakyushu, Japan and has organized many curatorial projects and music events including The Kitakyushu Biennial, co-curated with Takuji Kogo, he is also running an online-based candy factory project internationally, and Yoshitaka Mouri, sociologist, a professor of Tokyo University of the Arts, and has been organizing another project called “HOTEL ASIA” started in Kitkayushu 2011. And he also have curated solo exhibitions of following artists: Dan Graham (USA), Peter Halley (USA), Philip Horst (Germany), Federico Baronello (Italy), Jesper Alvaer (Norway), candy factory (Japan), Hiroshi Fuji (Japan) and so forth.

Keiichi Miyagawa is also a member of artist collective named SECOND PLANET. His works have been presented at Tokyo University of the Arts 2017, Aichi Triennale 2016, LP Art Space in Chongqing 2016, Bangkok University Gallery 2015, Asia Art Archive in Hong Kong 2014, The Kitakyusuh Biennial 2013, The Taegu Photo Biennial 2012, ZK/U Berlin 2012, Hotel Asia Project at Organhaus Chongqing 2012, Maebashi Media Festival 2012, International Curators Forum YOKOHAMA 2011.

佐々木玄 Artist / Kitakyushu, Japan
1980年生まれ北九州在住のアーティストでGALLERY SOAPのキュレーターとしても活動している。佐々木は写真、映像、音、テキスト等を使って、WEB PROJECTやインスタレーションの作品を発表している。様々な情報を素材として使用し、それらの文脈を再構築することによって新しい視点を獲得することを目指している。2011年より、宮川敬一やNi Kun等と共同でホテルアジアプロジェクトを企画しており、また、外田久雄とオンラインとフリーマガジンのプロジェクト E87も継続的に展開している。

Gen Sasaki
Born in 1980, Gen is an artist based in Kitakyushu, Japan, and a member of GALLERY SOAP since 2004 (2004 - 2015: assistant director, 2016 -: curator). As an artist, he works with various media, images, movies, sound and text spread in the internet and real world. Taking such information as source of his work and re-mixing them, he attempts to shift contexts slightly and give different aspects. Ongoing projects include "HOTEL ASIA PROJECT", a continuing project in collaboration with an artist Keiichi Miyagawa since 2011 (http://hotelasia.cc/). "E87", web and free magazine project in collaboration with an artist Hisao Sotoda since 2013.
